It was a James Bond girl who set me on the road to being “The Fortune Teller”.

Paris DeBono, Gypsy Cards - SydneyWhen I was a young child I watched the 007 movie “Live and Let Die” with my father on TV.

When the beautiful Solitaire (played by English actress Jane Seymour) appeared on the screen, I was mesmerized, both by her beauty and her mysterious tarot cards. I was amazed at how she could foretell the future. There, watching that movie, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with my life.

The very next day I saw a packet of tarot cards in a bookshop. I went in and bought them with my pocket money. Although I knew my strict Catholic mother wouldn’t approve, I was compelled to have them. However, I had no idea how to read them.

Coinciding with this, I experienced a spiritual awakening and psychic encounters with my spirit guides and the beyond. But these visions and visitations scared me and I didn’t know what I was supposed to do with this knowledge and information that I was receiving.

Sometime later...

I found myself at a crowded market, looking on as a flame-haired mystic woman gazed at a man’s hand, read his cards and made predictions about his life, loves and career. I wondered if I would ever be able to foresee future events like she could. Would I ever be able to tell people about their lives and destiny?

Eventually, in my later teens, I went to that very same mystic woman and asked her to do a reading for me. I was in awe — the way she held the cards, the way she laid them out on the table, he way she read them, the way she seemed to know about me and my life. A whole new, yet strangely familiar world had opened up for me

I was thrilled when she predicted that I myself would become a famous psychic reader one day. And before long, she became my mentor, teaching me how to tune into my own psychic abilities powerfully and to deliver these messages through the cards I had bought so many years before

I had entered a magical world — a world of secret symbols and a new way of looking at life. Other fine teachers followed. I studied astrology, palmistry and other forms of divination and soon I was reading cards, palms and astrology charts professionally.

Finally, I was doing what I had dreamed of so long ago.

I became “The Fortune Teller”.

In my late 20s, I travelled and lived in Europe for a few years and there I appeared in my own very popular weekly television segment, radio shows and newspaper columns and horoscopes, talking and writing about diverse esoteric subjects such as astrology, numerology, tarot, superstitions and other forms of divination and fortune telling.

I returned to Australia to further my studies of fortune telling, psychic readings and the esoteric arts. I also worked in the leading new age shops in Sydney- Living Energies, Penny Moon and Inner Harmony, to name a few.

In 2006 I opened my first shop, The Fortune Teller, in Erskineville, Sydney and in 2010 my second shop, The Fortune Teller in Darlinghurst, Sydney. I also developed, produced and designed many of my own fortune telling gypsy cards that I teach classes and workshops with to help other people open up their psychic powers.

Here I am.
